Assignments in RED ONLY indicate they are open to the public: we invite written comments on our blog and participation via social media.  This page will be updated regularly; please check back for detailed schedule and important announcements.

Week 1                                   

Monday, 9/24

Homework for first day:

Stanford students Sign into and explore our class blog (see separate handout for instructions, distributed in class or sent to Stanford students on email). Sorry, online students do not have permission to sign into the blog itself (but can participate via the comment section underneath individual blog posts,  via social media, and occasionally via other forms such as wikis, Google hangouts, etc., as announced.

Sign up for Twitter account at twitter.com if you don’t have one.  If you are on Facebook, please “Like” our “Oscar Wilde and the French Decadents” Facebook page to stay in touch there as well (optional).

Wednesday, 9/26       

ALL:  Exercise #1 (on Baudelaire, “Hymn to Beauty”) due online by Wednesday, 10am 

Week 2

Wednesday, 10/3                  

ALL:   Exercise #2 (on Wilde, “Harlot’s House”) AND mandatory journal entry/blog post on “The Canterville Ghost” and/or “The Remarkable Rocket” due online (by email if needed) no later than Sunday, 10pm

Week 3

This week: Twitter hash tag discussion (details and exact time/date TBA)

 

Week 6

ALL:  Exercise #3 due online by Monday, 10am (Midterm Self-Reflection on Learning  or Storify summary of Twitter discussion; details TBA)
